Almost finished...

All that remains is the background, and then she's done! I still haven't gotten the hang of properly photographing a painting outdoors, so the background seems to have a blue cast even though it's still white.

Below is a detail of some of the tattoos. I drew them on with a micron pen, painted them, and then added outlines and the very fine linework with ink.

It's coming along beautifully, Carla. It's nice to see a closeup to we can see the exquisite detail that you've put into the painting...so much painstaking work. It was also nice to see your studio.

The tattoos and colour-balances look fantastic! I think the key to this is the use of differing techniques for the figure and tattoos - please don't be tempted to outline the figure any further than the paint has already done, as she looks wonderful!

Carla, this is so exquisite! I love seeing the closeup and the texture of the canvas. It must be more stunning in person than even on the site. Thanks for sharing the progression...I feel like I'm learning from each post!

Is this your template for a trip to the tattoo shop? The ones on the elbow are gonna sting oooch!

Seriously, very cool, love the detail. The hair is awesome.

How did you draw with your arm crooked over like that..you must be left handed.
You're lucky, my mirror adds about 20 lbs!

Wow. Gorgeous, Carla. You're inspiring me to get some body art done for the summer--henna--. I wish I could get someone to do work like this! Just stunning. I love the addition of paint to your medium.

I've been working with Microns myself, lately, trying to develop a faster style than I can get with the ballpoint and graphite. You once recommended it to me. Thanks!
