that's lovely, Carla, those colors, those lines... it really gives the feeling of dreaming away....
Gee...this illustration, for me, is your best one yet. It's wonderful, as are the sentiments in the writing that acommpanies it.
I love the texture in this serene piece. Is it the support you used?
that's beautiful Carla...Even the painting is poetic...
Thank you!
Andrea, I actually scanned a woven bamboo placemat and put it in as a partially transparent layer underneath the foreground layers (which are also varying levels of transparency). This started out as a pen drawing which I scanned and played with in PhotoShop. I've been using this method a lot lately. I think it has some good possibilities.
oh, my. i love it - the texture, the colors, and the verse! this has an ethereal feel to it.
Wow...so beautiful. This was worth waiting for. I love the poem below about daydreams...so pretty!

Dreamy indeed. A self-portrait perhaps? I look forward to more entries and posts.
Lovely illustration - dreamy atmosphere
Great work Carla, it´s sweet and delicate and lovely words too !
Very dreamy!
nice...
Great technique, I'm glad you explained it.
she is beautiful like you! i agree the colors are great and i also like what i have read!
What a great idea to scan something else to use as the background! I'll have to try that. I really love the simple lines of this drawing, the expression on the woman's face and the position of her hands. Very much captures the essence of daydreaming. Beautiful work, Carla.
Wow. Beautiful.
I really like your use of layering! The subtle green is beautiful and wispy lines are dreamy :)
thank you for your drop!
wow this is the cool style!
love your illustration!
great job carla!
here the line work is so soothing and i have to say the colours really do it for me, you have captured the visual of a dream!
;)

Carla, I can see u in that picture. I love what you have done this time, it's really nice, and it feels so peaceful. Adding texture to such a delicate picture takes some guts, and you did it so well!
By the way, thanks for your comment. And my kangaroo is using a bag of "Twiglets" as pillow.
Twiglets are baked knobby sticks of Marmite flavoured snacks, my favorite. Have you tried them?
Just dreamy Carla! I love to day dream especially in my garden ;) you have a great style
I do love to daydream! In fact, sometimes daydreaming and wasting time intertwine for me... :-) Another job well done, or rather topic well illustrated- in image and words! Pure talent ;-)
I really like this one. I used it as inspiration for mine--love the idea of layering the texture over the drawing.
That is just beautiful, and paired with the writing, it is perfect!
Wonderful girl, so glade you have come to share with us! talent like yours needs to be seen by the whole world!
beautiful pic & poem- I love the whole flow of the image
a piece that sybolises both feminism and dream. great piece and touch to this piece.
do comment on mine in www.coffee81.blogspot.com
I like the sublime feel of your illustrations lately. They are quite wonderful to look at.
Another beautifully relaxing piece. I love this particular technique you use. I think it really suits your interpretation of the themes :)
Great daydreaming illustration. It's pruning back those unruly ones that can be the problem alright.
Wow, your work this week is great as usual. I envy your great way with words. You've got really neat outlooks on life. If only I could have such a positive way of looking at things.
Carla - really beautiful piece this week!! I really like it on so many levels - color, mood, line work..it's just terrific! And the writing is superb too! Lovely!
I received your comment on my blog, and yes, I have finally posted something for Illo Friday this week. It is vaguely related to the topic...
Carla, I sometimes think that dreams are actually the opposite of this - the little thoughts we threw away, the scattered jottings and refuse of a day fluttering loose into the night.
This is an excellent composition, with a hazy, unstable feel from the strongly diagonal elements, and the positioning of the circles at top left and bottom right. It does capture a really dreamy feel indeed...
Carla, this is really beautiful. It's perfect! :0)
Hi Carla. You always capture the essence of all topics. I enjoy the mixture of color and strong traces. I will looking forward to see your work next week.
wonderful atmosphere and colours Carla.
This is lovely. I like the flowing, floaty feel of the image. She looks like she's having a great time day dreaming.
Fingers crossed your software arrives soon. If you need brushes to play around with for Painter, let me know. :-)
Thank you so much for all your comments! I started back at work this week and I haven't had a lot of time to visit blogs and see what everyone is up to, so I just want to say thanks to all of you here. I hope things will settle down a bit after next week :>
I think this is my favorite piece of yours to date. Love the technique, colors, the character ......very ethereal. Looking forward to your next "I.F." contribution!! By the way, thanks also for your nice comments on my blog. I'm a big Fillmore Posters/Bob Masse fan. Wow, you're lucky to have seen a show at the Fillmore East before it closed!
