Subject to Change - Opening Reception
I want to thank all of you who stopped by my blog to wish me good luck for the opening of my show. I didn't have a chance to respond to everyone, but please know that your warm thoughts and comments meant so much to me! The opening went well, with a pretty good turnout despite the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend and many people weren't around. Below are a few of the pictures Jol took at the beginning and end of the evening. We were both too busy chatting away for most of the night, so that's really the only time he remembered to take pictures.
The Spotlight Gallery in the Gallery on the Green is a small space on the second floor, next to the larger upstairs gallery. This is the wall that you see when you come up the stairs. Thanks to Jol and his handy laser level, everything was lined up and spaced evenly. The image below is of the wall to the right.
Many people were curious about the various textures and treatments I use in my paintings, and I had a such good time explaining my process to them. This painting, Tiny Sky has already sold!
I was completely blown away when I saw these two ladies ascend the stairs... none other than JB and KJ! My heart filled with joy to think they made the trip to see me and my show. Big, big hugs to both of you...thank you!
Although this painting, The Vine is not for sale, I wanted to show it. I still plan to do a tattoo series, but on a smaller scale. This one took forever!
I also wanted to show Daydreamer, another painting that's not for sale. It's Jol's favorite, so it will stay with us.
It was a fun evening! When it was all over, I felt like a little girl after a dance recital... the only thing missing was going for an ice cream soda. I just went home and fell into bed! Thank you to all my friends who stopped by the reception... it was so wonderful to have you there. The show will continue through June 24, so if you are anywhere in the area of Canton, CT, please stop by!

Thanks for the photos; that was fun - a virtual walk through... the closest I am going to be able to get to CT in the next month! Would be nice to see in person!
yay! your show looks wonderful!! congrats!!
I wish I could see this in person. What a wonderful feeling it must have been.
Yes, as ascender has already said, thanks for the virtual walk through the gallery. The work looks just wonderful, stunning actually. Then at the bottom? The artist herself, beaming bright - talk about stunning! So, congratulations on this exhibition and the success it's brought your way. You know how I feel about your work. :)
what a beautiful photo of you, carla!
and what a beautiful show. it was a huge pleasure to surprise you and to see your original artwork. however it looks on your blog, it is 1000% more impressive in person.
fantastic post, this one.
:)
Carla, you take my breath away. This gallery was so fortunate to be able to show your incredible work. There is so much mystery in each piece. In a word,
Magnificent~!
I heard all about it!!! It was fun to listen to KJ describe the paintings in person. I loved how she described the textures and the details that we sometimes do not see in the blogs. The only thing better was seeing them for myself. Congratulations Carla. Marvelous indeed.
Congratulations Carla-it looks so beautiful-all your art on the walls of the gallery.
XO
Carla, your show is wonderful! In fact, I want to go see it again!! The photos you shared here are great, and I feel so lucky I was able to be there for your opening & see it in person. Took my breath away all that beauty in one place!!

I so wish I could see the show in person after all the great comments. Seeing your work hanging as a group I can see the thread that joins them all. And I loved the tour. Congratulations again and it all looks fantastic.
PS Summer's coming!!!!
I'm so glad there are pictures to see! The show looks fantastic and it's hung perfectly. I'm glad it was a magical night for you! You're an amazing artist on an amazing journey :)
Your show's looking good, glad you have an exhibition out there. Keep up the good work!
congratulations!! sounds like it was a wonderful show. i'm super happy for you, carla!! :-)
Yea it looks wonderful!! How exciting for you. Now is the gallery getting review of the show in your local paper? If not then do some personal marketing yourself and ask the paper for a review. A lot of paintings can sell after a newspaper review.
Carla I am just so happy for you. Love the last piece you painted in the previous post.
Yaaay Carla!! I was hoping you share this with us all. What a wonderful show--so inspiring!!
I was so sorry I couldn't make it to the opening; I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago and wasn't up for a drive. I'm so glad to hear that it went so well, and congratulations on the sale! May it be the first of many. :0)
Yay, Carla!! Looks like a wonderful show!

Oh, Carla, the show looks fabulous! So nice to hear from you on my blog, to know you're still checking in with me. I'll be posting much more regularly once I move, so thanks for hanging in there with me and look for more art postings in the near future.

WOW!! Congratulation!
What's this? A show? I had no idea. How freaking cool! Looks like a success, and I would have been heartbroken if you had sold the tattoo painting, since you KNOW it is my favorite. But I guess it's NFS.
Oh well, I still have the print I made of it that is glued to my ceiling. :-)
It looks great! And how good that the opening went well. It must make you feel so proud to see so much of your work hanging next to eachother like this.

Thanks for sharing the show with us,Carla.Seeing all of the paintings hanging there made me wish that I had time to be a painter too. If I did I would probably do florals. I already started and did two or three large florals. Then I decided that I don't have time to turn into a painter...I'm only one person.
By the way, I'm sure that I'm not the first to ask, but I've wondered what Anonyrrie means.
wow looks soo good. wish i could see it, but thanks for the pics. lov ur work and i hope u keep going.
everything looked so beautiful! your paintings are so fabulous and i wish i could have been there to see them in person.
congrats!
WOO HOO! Bravo!
It would be something to see them in real life rather than over the internet!
Thanks for sharing these photos!
How awesome Carla! You are so lucky that kj and jb came too! Wonderful and so nice to see your beautiful smiling face!
Oh this is wonderful!! All those beautiful pieces finally seen by everyone. Congratulations!
Congrats with your exhibition!
Congratulations! The paintings look so wonderful as groupings. Very impressive! I'm so happy for you! :)
I love the composition of your work. Each piece seems to tell a wonderfully romantic story. Makes me want to dive right in! I also enjoyed your inclusion of poetry on your blog posts. It's great to see you connecting the poetic meanings with your work. All in all excellent depth. One can tell your work has evolved!
WOW! I haven't stopped by in a while...you have been busy! CONGRATS!!! On the show! You lucky dog you!>sigh< someday.....
Oh my gosh! Your show looks amazing - I so wish I could have seen it in person! You are so prolific!
I wish I could have seen it in person, too! So glad you shared the photos!
It would have been fun to have been there to hear and see you describe how you achieve your textures and treatments in your paintings. :-)
Congrats! Very exciting!
It is just so different in real life. The art on the wall as compared to online.
What gorgeous work, I wish I was near enough to come and see.
that is such a great show! How exciting. Congratulations to you ;)
