Illustration Friday - Clean
Natural Music
The old voice of the ocean, the bird-chatter of little rivers,
(Winter has given them gold for silver
To stain their water and bladed green for brown to line their banks)
From different throats intone one language.
So I believe if we were strong enough to listen without
Divisions of desire and terror
To the storm of the sick nations, the rage of the hunger smitten cities,
Those voices also would be found
Clean as a child's; or like some girl's breathing who dances alone
By the ocean-shore, dreaming of lovers.
-Robinson Jeffers (1887 - 1962)
(acrylic on 6" x 8" stretched canvas)

So beautiful and serene! Bright and bold colors, yet the image is so peaceful. Very clean!!
Oh, that I could listen for the clean voices or hear that dancing girl... Thought-provoking, as always... Beautiful colors.
OOH! Love this one! I think we were on the same wavelength this week!
very beautiful!
I'm really enjoying your nature scenes. This one is also tranquil and lovely!
Lovely, lovely, lovely. And the poem is beautiful too.
I have been away for a couple of weeks. It's pleasure to come back and find your pieces. There is such beauty and, yes, sense of cleaness in this swan.
This is beautiful, Carla! I want to learn to paint...
Amazing, Carla! As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew this was a special painting. It is a nice follow up to the wolf painting and the reflections and sunset on this one are even better. As usual, a perfect literary choice to go with the art.
Beautiful, Carla, as all of your work!
colorblenderific!
what a beautiful painting! i really like the halo-effect given by that thin line of light running across its head. very atmospheric and serene. its one of those paintings that makes you sit and contemplate.
beautiful!
It's a dichotomy--beautiful and serene yet vibrant with color. Great job!
I see a trend here Carla! This might be my favorite siholouette yet, and the accompanying words ring so true for today.
How many times can I say it? You always do such beautiful work.
This is beautiful Carla. I've been mia for a while but I see you've been doing something a little different from your previous work, or maybe I just haven't seen this style before. Anyway, I like it.

The colors are really amazing! Carla, I love your new style a lot!
I just realized what the style of these landscapes etc remind me of... those really cool retro lamp shades where the light from the bulb makes them glow. Have you heard that before? Very cool.
this is lovely and peaceful!! Poetic!
You've made the sunset glow in this one,Carla. I love the way the colors dance on the water.
Thank you for visiting my online gallery and for your nice comment. I think this is the first time I have seen your blog, but what a find! I hope you don't mind, I added a link to your blog from my daily blog before asking you. Is that okay with you?
Oh, yes! I'm loving your earthy silhouettes. This one makes it look as if the bird is swimming in liquid gold. AND congrats on finishing the painting - The Vine. She's gorgeous, Carla. The body art is so vibrant. Kudos!
Yes, beautiful colours, very serene and reminds me a bit of the coming Autumn...my favorite time of the year!
Your painting is excellent. I thought my picture of my cat was good, until I clicked on your link. You have some wonderful paintings posted, I wish you could show me how to work with acrylics.
Beautiful Carla! I love the colors and the quietness of it all. Very moving! And the poem is perfect for it. I love the line, "Winter has given them gold for silver" - Gave me the chills.
Lovely, great colors!!! Beautifully done. Nice poem too.
Beautiful use of color as usual! I love how the swan stands out because of how dark he is next to the bright flowing water.
I love the warm colors. The serenity. Nice work.

Truly sublime. I adore the colors the texture and the theme as well as the Jeffers poem. How you can manage such a lovely painting on so small a canvas is a gift.
Carla this so beautiful! I am loving the silhouette and sunset! Such gorgeous work you do!
Very serene.
carla, your painting has such a child-like crayon quality to it and yet is so rich and deep.
the poem caught in my throat: how important it is to be hopeful and focused in these troubled times.

kj
Perfect melding of words and image! Amazing!
Oh, I love this, is so... serene.
Sorry I've been away for so long. I tried to upgrade my ISP and ended up with no iNet at all. But I'm trying to solve this so I can get back to IF.
Clear, clean and uncomplicated message. Great sky and especially water reflections.
This is great work, Do more
So vibrant and absolutely beautiful! Perfect for clean:)
Oh! This is so beautiful.
love
Absolutely gorgeous! This is a really crisp, eye-catching, and yes, clean, image. You've made first class use of a limited palette!
Similar style to your Sacrifice painting below, it has the same sense of warmth, sorrow, tenderness and nurturing.
Wonderful colours and that poem is so so beautiful.
Beautiful words to go with a beautiful image.
Your finished 'Vine' piece is gorgeous!!!
I love the mood on this piece. Thank you for all your comments on my IF art!
Hi Carla...this is so peaceful, love the mood.
You know, I'm going to keep doing watercolors..hahah, people seems to prefer it, than digital.(although that digital, was simple)
Thank you!
-Marjorie
Thanks again for your comments. They are always appreciated and insightful!
It's nice to look at the progression of this series. I can tell that you're already editing your style and mixing things up a little! Your composition, for example is much bolder. The land-mass to the right seems to do a double-duty, as it mimicks the shape of the bird's face. So there's a really great visual push/pull.
Can't wait to see more.
Really zen and poetic, and your words are so true... i love, thank you for your serene illo, it make me feel better ;)
Thankyou for your nice comment on my blog. Very nice silhouette and the colours are great!!
