Illustration Friday - Farm

As Summer into Autumn slips
And yet we sooner say
"The Summer" than "the Autumn," lest
We turn the sun away,

And almost count it an Affront
The presence to concede
Of one however lovely, not
The one that we have loved --

So we evade the charge of Years
On one attempting shy
The Circumvention of the Shaft
Of Life's Declivity.

-Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886)

(work-in-progress: acrylic on 18" x 20" gallery wrapped canvas)

This is fabulous! There is a feel about it. Edward Hopper in the wilderness? I don't know. It is moody yet... I can't quite describe the feeling.

The shadows in this painting seem to set the mood, I really like the way you painted the grasses in the field like they are swirling in the wind. Wonderful!

You are quickly mastering landscapes, Carla. This one really reminds me of the Hudson River Valley School masters' works. Perfect poetic compliment by Ms. Dickinson!
