Illustration Friday - Smoke

Wistful

WISHES left on your lips
The mark of their wings.
Regrets fly kites in your eyes.

- Carl Sandburg (1878 - 1967)

This has a strong feel to it. The lines are emotional because of the different pressures used to create your strokes! ^_^

That's a good one to post near Hallowe'en. It's kind of dark, moody and creepy.

Remember the first time you used charcoal in art class? Wasn't it cool, and weird and real? Anyway, This is great, and even greater that you still have it. Thanks for all the thoughtful comments Carla.

Your talent bloomed very early, Carla. It's always a treat to see a mature artist's work when they were still in school.

I love that you chose a quote from a famous smoker. I can't picture Mr. Sandberg without his pipe. And, as always, I love seeing your older work!

A smoky, cloudy, reflective portrait. There's something a touch Shaman-like about this figure - the technique is perfect for capturing the essence of the subject matter.
