Illustration Friday - Clear

What We Need Is Here

Geese appear high over us,
pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,
as in love or sleep, holds
them to their way, clear
in the ancient faith: what we need
is here. And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye,
clear. What we need is here.

Wendell Berry - ( 1934- )

(16" x 20" acrylic on stretched canvas)

This is my favorite of your paintings so far. I love the light you've captured in this. It seems to be warm and soft and glowing and it's warming up my chilly room. I'm trying to figure out what you did with color to get that glow. It's so masterfully done and so lovely!

What a lovely painting - those trees look like you've only to turn your head away and they'd start dancing but are too shy to when observed!

Carla, that is a wonderful composition. I love the play of yellow on the top and bottom. It is not just a painterly painting of trees but a study of direction and color intersecting.

Wonderful design and the yellows are balanced perfectly, in lesser hands this could have looked like a lemon meringue pie with legs.
The autumn light contrast with the deepening shawdows of the woods is such a treat. Beautiful!
