Illustration Friday - Invention

To the Reader: Twilight

Whenever I look
out at the snowy
mountains at this hour
and speak directly
into the ear of the sky,
it's you I'm thinking of.
You're like the spirits
the children invent
to inhabit the stuffed horse
and the doll.
I don't know who hears me.
I don't know who speaks
when the horse speaks.

Chase Twichell (1950 - )

This looks like it could be a giant batik piece, with the inky colors flowing over the wax. Very nice

Your landscape work achieves a very tranquil effect Carla. The colors here glisten. I love how you incorporated the poem into your entry too.

The illustration is so perfect for this time of year. I'm not the biggest fan of poetry, but I have to tell you I love what you choose each time. This one knocked me out! Maybe because it's the style I love...not rhyming. Anyway, your posts are always enjoyed!!

This does look very much like batik or a fabric piecing. Beautiful! Also, wanted to let you know I restarted my blog. The link is on my profile. I will link here!

The texture and color on this painting are wonderful. We live in an area surrounded by mountains, and I often see things like this but don't have the gift for rendering them as beautifully as you do. Your art is always amazing.

Love the picture and the poem!
Last Friday just before dusk I hurried over to the woods and meadows near my home, just to have the blue hour envelope me. I put the pictures on my blog.
Blue hours are magic, they make me feel like a child again.
